European beech

The European beech (Fagus sylvatica) is a large, native deciduous tree with smooth, silvery-gray bark that grows to a height of 25 to 30 meters and forms a dense, upright crown.

The leaves are oval-shaped, five to ten centimeters long, with wavy edges; they are dark green and turn a bright golden yellow in the fall.

In the fall, the beech tree bears triangular beechnuts, which serve as food for many wild animals. Beech wood is also used for furniture, flooring, and firewood.
