Common Linden

The large-leaved linden (Tilia platyphyllos) is a large, fast-growing deciduous tree with a broad, rounded crown that can grow up to 40 meters tall and develops spreading branches as it ages.

The common linden is known for its large, heart-shaped leaves (dark green on top, light-colored and hairy on the underside) that turn yellow in the fall. The fragrant, yellowish-white flowers that bloom in June and July are rich in nectar and attract many insects.

Linden wood is soft and easy to work with, making it suitable for sculpture and woodcarving.
