Seniors' Advisory Council

Seniors' Advisory Council
Who we are:
We are the point of contact for all senior citizens in the joint municipality of Uelsen. We work on a voluntary, independent, non-partisan and non-denominational basis.
The members of the Seniors' Advisory Council are appointed by the member municipalities of the joint municipality for a period of three years. The municipality of Uelsen appoints 4 people. The municipalities of Itterbeck, Wilsum, Getelo, Gölenkamp, Halle and Wielen each appoint 1 person.
What we want:
Demographic trends show that the number of older people is steadily increasing. In the joint municipality of Uelsen, the "60-plus generation" currently accounts for around a third of the total population.
The Seniors' Advisory Council wants to meet this challenge with the aim of promoting coexistence between the generations so that everyone can actively participate in social life. In doing so, we want to make an important contribution to the further development and quality of life of the joint municipality of Uelsen.
You should feel at home in each individual member municipality with a great deal of joie de vivre. To this end, we also want to find out more about your needs and interests.
What we do:
The Seniors' Advisory Council forms opinions and exchanges experiences on all matters affecting senior citizens.
As the voice of the older generation, we represent their specific interests and concerns in political decision-making processes vis-à-vis the council and the administration and work towards their consideration.
In addition, we actively participate in the planning and implementation of measures for older people in the joint municipality, encourage changes to improve their quality of life and support them in their concerns.
To this end, we take part in public events and seek personal discussions on site.
We welcome all information, suggestions and requests that we receive from you personally.
As part of our public relations work, we regularly provide information about important issues that affect you.
Our meetings:
We meet in a 2-month cycle in the odd-numbered months on the last Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the council chamber of the joint municipality at Itterbecker Straße 11 in Uelsen.
The exact dates are published promptly on the joint municipality's homepage in the council information system.
Guests are welcome to attend our meetings at any time to find out about your interests and concerns!
