The exhibition sheds light on the history and effects of the Emsland Plan from 1950 to the present day, with a special focus on the county of Bentheim. The aim is to convey the transformation of the region from a structurally weak borderland to a diverse economic and cultural area. The prerequisites as well as political, economic, social and ecological aspects of the Emsland Plan are addressed in order to create an awareness of the historical significance of this infrastructure program in the county - combined with current and future challenges facing the region. In this way, the exhibition makes the county of Bentheim tangible as part of the development area and invites visitors to engage in a lively discussion about the post-war history of the county of Bentheim.
