Dear fellow citizens,
At the end of 2025, I would like to send you a Christmas greeting. Perhaps you too will remember one or two wonderful experiences, good encounters or a personal success that you were able to experience in 2025.
Fortunately, there were no major crises in 2025, as in previous years. Instead, the topic of finances became more and more of a focus and local authority budgets came under pressure. The reasons for this are complex, but essentially they lie in the increasing number and variety of tasks that the federal and state governments are transferring to local authorities without adequately funding them.
This will make future years very challenging financially. At the same time, however, further investments in buildings and structures are necessary. This can succeed if courage is combined with a sense of proportion and the situation of the member municipalities is always taken into account.
Despite the challenging conditions, we should therefore demonstrate courage, show confidence and continue to invest in the future of our joint municipality. Continuing to shape our lovable and liveable municipality in the interests of our residents remains my top priority. For me, safeguarding the quality of life and strengthening our region as a location with good employment and educational opportunities go hand in hand.
The last 12 months have impressively demonstrated that this can also succeed with your support: in voluntary work, in associations, churches, institutions and in the sports club. Special thanks therefore go to all the people in our municipality who are involved in these areas in whatever form. They stand for cohesion, responsibility and humanity.
The colleagues in the joint municipal administration also work hard every day to manage the tasks for you, dear citizens, in the best possible way. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to them.
Dear fellow citizens,
For me, the joint municipality of Uelsen is and remains a special place to live and work - characterized by a community with a strong voluntary sector, many associations, good educational opportunities, economic diversity, a great landscape, nature worth seeing and a high quality of life. We must preserve this special quality together: Because all of this is what makes us special - all of this makes us strong together!
The Christmas message "Fear not" reminds us, especially in challenging times, that courage, a sense of community and trust are stronger than any difficulty.
With this in mind, I wish you and all your loved ones a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and all the best, happiness and, above all, good health in 2026, so that all our expectations, hopes and wishes may come true.
Sincerely
Yours
Hajo Bosch
Mayor of the joint municipality
