Uelsen receives state funding for a so-called "pedestrian traffic check" - making it one of ten municipalities in Lower Saxony to be selected this year.
The aim of the project is to make our footpaths even safer, more accessible and more attractive. Together with citizens and experts, the following questions, among others, are being examined:
Where is it safe and easy to walk? Where is there a lack of space or accessibility? Where could benches or better sight lines to drivers help, for example? How safe are routes to school?
Municipal director Hajo Bosch emphasizes: "Walking keeps you fit and is good for the climate. But to get around safely and comfortably, we need pedestrian-friendly paths and squares. That's why we naturally have a strong interest in keeping our footpaths in good condition and would like to pay particular attention to accessibility."
Inspections and workshops are planned until the fall, where citizens can actively participate. Further information will follow in good time.
An important step towards greater quality of life, safety and sustainable mobility in the municipality of Uelsen.
