Remembrance Day 2026

The Uelsen Joint Municipality invites you to a memorial service on Sunday, November 15, 2026, in observance of National Remembrance Day. The service begins at 11:45 a.m. at the memorial site on Mühlenberg.

Remembrance Day is a day to remember and honor the victims of war and violence. At the same time, it serves as a reminder to work toward peace, humanity, and reconciliation.

The memorial service on Mühlenberg begins at 11:45 a.m. with a musical performance by the trombone choir of the Evangelical Reformed Church. Students from Uelsen High School will contribute to the event with a performance of their own. Pastor Dieter Bouws will deliver the commemorative address. A wreath will be laid as part of the memorial service.

Delegations from the municipalities, clubs, and associations will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Old City Hall. They will then walk together to the memorial on Mühlenberg as the bells of all the churches ring.

The Uelsen Joint Municipality cordially invites all residents to attend the memorial service and join together in honoring the victims of war and violence.

As part of the event, the Uelsen Reservists will also be holding a collection on the Mühlenberg. The donations will go toward the maintenance of the war graves.
