The “Uelsen Village Region,” comprising the municipalities of Uelsen, Gölenkamp, and Wilsum, has been included in the “Village Development” program to promote rural areas. On Friday, the official certificate was presented in Osnabrück by Lower Saxony’s Minister of Agriculture, Miriam Staudte. There is great joy in the three municipalities following the presentation of the certificate of acceptance: “This is the key funding instrument for rural areas,” says Hajo Bosch, mayor of the joint municipality. “Without highway and rail connections, we’re at a structural disadvantage, but we still want to continue advancing our wonderful region and keep it a place worth living in and loving. In times of tightening budgets, funding is therefore enormously important to us so that we can develop and shape our region.”
After a village development plan has been drawn up, village regions are eligible for funding of up to 75 percent for public projects over several years, making this a rural development program.
This village development plan, intended to serve as a roadmap for the future, is now to be drawn up over a period of about one year with the help of a planning firm and—most importantly—with broad participation from the citizens.
This aspiration is also reflected in the name of the village region: “A Future Rooted in Tradition – tehoape vöarutgoan.”
We will continue to provide updates on dates and the next steps.
