On World Children’s Day, the town center of Uelsen will be colorful, musical, and cheerful: Under the theme “Sing Along, Dance Along, Laugh Along,” a varied program awaits children and families around the fountain. Admission is free. Anyone wishing to support the musical education of children and young people will find donation boxes on site to benefit the Friends of the Niedergrafschaft Music School. The donations will go toward promoting young musical talent.
Musician and guitar teacher Jürgen Fastje will provide the musical entertainment. Born in Bremen in 1962, Fastje devoted himself entirely to his great passion—music—in the early 1990s after dropping out of teacher training. For many years, he toured Germany with his band ROMEOS.
Today, Jürgen Fastje successfully runs a private guitar school and also works as a music teacher at various preschools and daycare centers in Oldenburg. Drawing on his experience and his passion for music, he invites visitors of all ages to sing along, dance along, and join in the fun.
There’s also plenty to enjoy in terms of dance: The ballet ensemble from the Niedergrafschaft Music School will showcase its talents and create some special moments on stage.
Those who want to get creative on their own will also find plenty to enjoy. In collaboration with the Youth Services Department of the Uelsen Joint Municipality, an autumn-themed craft program is being organized. Here, children can let their imaginations run wild and create their own little works of art that reflect the season.
World Children's Day in Uelsen combines music, dance, creativity, and plenty of fun—and offers children and families the opportunity to spend a wonderful afternoon together.
The World Children's Day event will take place on Sunday, September 20, starting at 3:00 p.m. at the fountain in downtown Uelsen. Admission is free.
World Children’s Day also marks the end of the 2026 Uelsen Music Summer. The organizers—the Uelsen Joint Municipality and Uelsen Tourism—can look back on a total of six events featuring a variety of musical genres. The events were well-attended across the board and have once again demonstrated that interest in the Uelsen Music Summer is steadily growing. Since the series was launched a few years ago, the Music Summer has enjoyed increasing popularity and has become a fixture on Uelsen’s event calendar.
All children and families are warmly invited to join us in celebrating a joyful World Children’s Day and bringing the 2026 Uels Music Summer to a close together.
